Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Utilizes technology and analytical tools to provide accurate and timely reporting of financial information. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Bryan Health System entities, as well as the Consolidated Bryan Health System financial statements. Pushes out monthly department financial statements for department manager review. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets, pro forma analyses, service line profitability reporting and productivity reporting. Provides integral assistance to auditors during the annual financial statement audit, as well as any other similar audits.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accurately and on time, including detailed review and analysis for major balance sheet and income statement accounts for all entities within Bryan Health. Prepares journal entries in accordance with GAAP.

3. *Prepares monthly and annual financial statements for several Bryan Health joint ventures (DOSC< LDHC, BUCS).

4. *Prepares consolidated Bryan Health financial statements and supporting reports for use by Senior Management and the Board of Trustees. Maintains all inter-company elimination entries included in these consolidated financial statements.

5. *Serves as the main financial lead for the following Bryan Health System entities: Bryan Medical Center, Bryan Physician Network, Bryan Foundation, and Bryan Enterprises. This includes preparing all journal entries and financial statements; and preparing audit work papers, financial statement notes and year-end schedules.

6. Serves as the system administrator for all software-based issues related to the ERP system.

7. *Understands, utilizes, and educates others regarding accepted accounting theory and practice to prepare and interpret a broad range of financial reports used by internal managers and the Board of Trustees.

8. *Partners with the business to perform financial statement analytics to provide explanations on account fluctuations.

9. *Coordinates budget preparation and training for leadership.

10. *Prepares all budget reports, books, and presentation used by the Board of Trustees.

11. *Assists and advises departments in the development of financial plans, forecasts, and annual budgets for all entities within Bryan Health System.

12. Prepares ad-hoc pro forma financial statements on new business ventures.

13. *Maintains subsidiary ledger detail as requested and verifies reconciliation to the general ledger.

14. Analyzes transactions and performs reconciliations related to Bryan Health's investments; acts as a liaison between external auditors, investment advisors and trust agents. Provides investment notes for year-end financial statements.

15. Reviews and verifies organizational contracts and tracks contract compliance.

16. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

17. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

18. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of accepted accounting theory and practice.

2. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local tax laws and regulations.

3. Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.

4. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software application relevant to work functions.

5. Skill in accessing information from various computer databases and merging the information into a usable format.

6. Skill in assisting customers in a patient and appropriate manner with questions and concerns.

7. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

8. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

9. Ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal customers, peers and effectively managing those relationships.

10. Ability to experience identifying, improving and maintaining internal controls.

11. Ability to effectively work across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field of study required. Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred. Minimum of five (5) years accounting experience required. Additional experience in detailed accounting analysis and knowledge of healthcare regulations desired.
