General Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for supervising the scheduling and coordination of forklifts and drivers according to daily loading and in compliance with regulations and company rules. Control departmental expenses and generate solutions to issues as and before they arise. Notifies S&R Team of assignments; reviews and verifies accuracy of teams work and data accuracy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Checks all orders loaded on trailer to ensure 100% accuracy in accordance with the SOP's determined for this task.
  • Coordinates proper loading and shipping orders with S/R personnel.
  • Schedule daily loading responsibilities for team and scheduled hours.
  • Makes sure inbound product is unloaded properly, correctly tagged and stored properly identified location.
  • Manage all loose pick lists and coordinate completion to ensure on-time delivery to Site Built job sites.
  • Ensures all internal/external paperwork meets all Universal regulations and procedures.
  • Manages internal (UFP) forklift equipment and lift operators.
  • Answers questions and resolves supplier and customer problems regarding S&R issues.
  • Document and communicate any shortage on customer orders to Account Manager.
  • Documents any shortage on inbound orders, investigates reasons for occurrence and informs buyer of shortage to get correction or to resolve issue with Mill.
  • Audits and archives department S&R metrics and accuracies on load accuracy.
  • Takes and acts upon calls for tracing and/or expediting orders.
  • Prepares various reports and correspondence as required.
  • Manages data on data system.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • High school diploma, with preferred degree in Management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as Manager of a Team, 5+ years preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge on lumber math, lumber grades and species.
  • Preferred understanding on company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Forklift experience preferred, but not required.

Skills and abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to plan, and organize the work of others, determine priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure and stress.
  • Demonstrated proficiency to manage multiple tasks, to set priorities, and to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to pass a drug test.
