JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Branch Manager will be responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in all distribution, plant production, safety, training, personnel, equipment maintenance, building maintenance, dispatching and other activities as required. The Assistant Branch Manager will also supervise the facility personnel to include drivers and administration. The ideal candidate will be able to function effectively with minimum supervision, and have the desire to lead and motivate the employees and ensure superior customer satisfaction. This is a DEVELOPMENTAL ROLE. The ideal candidate exhibits commitment and desire to grow their careers and advance toward a Branch Manager role with necessary training and mentorship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervise all drivers and warehouse personnel day to day.
- Ensure all customers receive quality customer service from company associates.
- Checks box reports as to status of existing accounts and contacts customer with past due boxes; communicates with A/R department and contacts customers regarding overdue payments.
- Keeps Branch Manager informed of day-to-day activity and any issues that may need to be resolved.
- Fulfill scheduled small quantity will call orders each day.
- Responsible for all operations associated with the branch including, delivery routing, maintenance of delivery trucks, warehouse organization and housekeeping, inside sales, and compliance issues (paperwork).
- Have a direct involvement with Creston plant, truckload orders, scheduling, problem solving, and communication with common carriers.

- Must be able to endure below freezing and occasional 100+ degree temperatures for extended periods of time while in the warehouse depending on weather outside.

  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience working in a leadership role within a distribution environment. Prefer prior hands on management experience conducting safety meetings and training.

  • Prior experience utilizing SAP preferred, but not required.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Must be able to work 8+ hours per day, 5 days per week on site(Mon-Fri) and the occasional on-call experience after normal business hours including weekends.

  • Knowledge of compliance related to Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SAFECORE, and other business related compliance activities.

  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of how to leverage metrics and related tools to improve production efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Communication skills that ensure a smooth flow of information between self and others through clear speaking and writing, encouragement of open expression of ideas, and effective listening.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.

  • Self-starter; self-motivated; well organized; ability to work independently.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to complete handwritten compliance documentation neatly and accurately.

  • Demonstrated dedication to product quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information with drivers, managers and customers.

  • Employee will be required to observe and assess information received via computer.

  • Requires frequent use of computer and telephone.

  • Occasionally be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.

  • Requires both indoor & outdoor environments in various seasonal weather conditions. Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees.
